Having herby sauces and dressings on hand is the secret to making eating macro-friendly not just doable but AMAZING. Seriously, having a yummy homemade sauce in the fridge is a staple at my house and one of my number one macro tips for anyone who wants yummy food while counting macros. That’s why this Herb Yogurt Dressing is the PERFECT base for any dip or spread.

This yogurt herb dressing is great for adding a little zip of flavor to anything you’re eating. I love to spread it on sandwiches or drizzle it on chicken. The options are endless!
I purposely left the recipe ingredients a little vague, so you can use whatever herbs you have on hand. I usually reach for dill, but whatever you have works! It’s such a versatile base for you to customize for your favorite herby flavor. And the best part? It’s SUPER easy to make and will add that much-needed “something” to your next macro-friendly meal!
What You Need to Make Herb Yogurt Dressing
The ingredients for this yogurt herb dressing are so simple that you might even already have what you need on hand!

Here’s what you’ll need…
- Dairy-Free Sour Cream or Yogurt (I used Forager plant-based sour cream). If you’re not worried about being dairy-free, then you can also use non-fat Greek yogurt. The macros will change so little, that it’s pretty negligible!
- 2 Frozen Garlic Cubes (I always get the Dorot brand) or you can mince your own
- Red Wine Vinegar
- Your Favorite Minced Herb (I like fresh dill)
- Salt and Pepper
After gathering these few ingredients, you’re ready to make your dressing.
How to Make Herb Yogurt Dressing
Making Herb Yogurt Dressing is even simpler than the ingredients. Simply whisk all the ingredients together and store the dressing in the fridge. That’s it!
Now you’ve got the perfect sauce to use all week on sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc.
Is this Herb Yogurt Dressing Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free?

Yes! This dressing is both dairy-free and gluten-free as long as you follow the dairy-free sour cream swap. I also have a few dairy-free sauce recipes that I love like this Dairy-Free Green Sauce or this Dairy-Free Basil Pesto.
If you’re trying to eat macro-friendly AND gluten-free and dairy-free, a lot of my recipes are naturally that way or have super easy swaps.
My cookbook, Planned, was written while I was eliminating dairy and gluten from my diet for health reasons, so that’s one I especially recommend if you’re eating gluten-free and dairy-free. Serving Suggestions
I love to eat this dressing with salads or wraps, and I especially love it drizzled on a BLT. This one was originally in my cookbook PLANNED paired with a Shaved Pork BLT.
The Shaved Pork BLT recipe still hasn’t made its way to the blog, but if you want to make it, you can get it in my cookbook PLANNED or from my weekly meal plan subscription.
It’d also be great paired with any of your favorite grilled proteins like these Herby Mediterranean Grilled Chicken Tenderloins. I have so many grilled protein recipes that you can find easily on the blog!
Why I Love Macro-Friendly Sauces

I love having a yummy, light sauce or dressing prepped in the fridge to use all week long. It’s actually one of the ways that I make macro-counting sustainable for me and my family.
With a dressing and a weekly prepped protein in the fridge, it makes cooking dinner every night so much easier! I love not having to start from scratch every night.
That’s actually the way my first cookbook, LEAT, is structured and also my cookbook, Planned. Now I make weekly meal plans every week based around one weekly protein and a yummy sauce with a few one-dish meals thrown in.
