How to Make Air Fryer Blackened Mahi Mahi:
It took me longer to join the air fryer fan club than most. I was a major skeptic since I love to cook LARGE batches of things for my family. But ever since I got my large white air fryer, my life has never been the same. It’s great to actually cook things or to reheat anything and everything. We seriously use it every single day. No more slices of pizza in my toaster leaving cheese on the side to smoke up the house for the next lucky user. Like I said. Life changed. Trust me, you need this Air Fryer.
Now that we’ve settled the air fryer debate, it’s time to get cookin’. Preheat your air fryer to 400°. This will only take a few minutes. While you are waiting, prep your fish. If your Mahi Mahi is frozen, run it under water for just a minute. But you don’t need it to thaw out all the way! You just want to make sure the outside of the fish isn’t rock hard so the spices can stick to it.
Speaking of spices, let’s talk about our mix. Grab your cumin, chili powder, brown sugar, garlic, oregano, kosher salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix all of the spices together to create your blackening rub. This recipe makes enough blackened seasoning to be split up evenly between four filets of Mahi Mahi.
Once you’ve seasoned the fillets, spray the tops of your seasoned Mahi Mahi with a spritz of olive oil spray so that everything gets yummy and crispy. If you aren’t a fan of olive oil, you could also use an avocado oil spray.
Air fry your seasoned Mahi Mahi fillets for 10-12 minutes or until the internal temp reaches 137°. If your fish is fully thawed, just adjust your cooking time to 8-10 minutes.
Once the internal temperature of your Mahi Mahi reaches 137°, remove and let rest for a minute. Squeeze some fresh lemon over the top and enjoy!
