This Air Fryer Asparagus is an easy side dish topped with freshly shaved parmesan cheese. It is so quick to make, you can prep and cook it in 10 minutes or less!
It’s such a simple side it hardly needs a recipe, but I’ve found that veggies can be tricky to get just right in the air fryer, so this recipe is a must!
Lucky for you, I’ve figured out the perfect cooking time and temp for asparagus, so you don’t have to! My method will ensure you get the perfect, crispy asparagus in the air fryer every. single. time. 👍

What You Need to Make Air Fryer Asparagus
To make the best air fryer asparagus, you’re going to need an air fryer! This air fryer is great, but any of them will do. Then you’ll just need a few simple ingredients like…
- Asparagus
- Olive Oil Spray (love using this one with no propellants)
- Salt & Pepper
- Shaved Parmesan Cheese
- Lemon Zest (optional)
And that’s it! With those few simple ingredients, you’ll have the yummiest veggie side dish that’s perfect for any meal. Also, if you don’t want to get your air fryer dirty, you can use air fryer liners for easy cleanup…they’re especially great if you have a habit of not washing your air fryer after every use…👀
How to Cook Asparagus in the Air Fryer
This recipe calls for 1 pound of asparagus, but that’s AFTER I’ve done all the trimming of the tough stems. So I always buy a little extra asparagus, no biggie.
Start by bending and breaking a few asparagus at a time so that they snap naturally at the bottom to get rid of the woody ends. Spray your air fryer basket with oil, then add the asparagus. Next, spray your asparagus with a light mist of olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
Whenever I make vegetables in the air fryer, people always want to know the time and how long it takes to cook. So how long does it take to cook asparagus in the air fryer?
How Long to Cook Asparagus in the Air Fryer
It takes about 3-5 minutes at 370 degrees Fahrenheit to cook asparagus in the air fryer to get them barely tender. It’s really important not to overcook this asparagus. No one wants mushy asparagus!
After taking the asparagus out of the air fryer, sprinkle with shaved parmesan and lemon zest (if you have it). Enjoy!
Is Air Fryer Asparagus with Parmesan Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free?
This air fryer asparagus with parmesan is gluten-free! It does have parmesan though, so it’s not dairy-free.
